Province of Leyte, Philippines

The Province of Leyte in the Philippines is best known historically as the setting of the greatest naval battle in history - the Battle of Leyte Gulf during World War II.
However, Leyte province is also the home of many picturesque travel destinations and tourist spots which speckle the rest of the province.
Some of these Leyte beautiful locations worthy to visit are the Leyte Landing Memorial in Palo, Leyte, the San Juanico Bridge (once the longest bridge in Southeast Asia once), Palo Cathedral and the Price Mansion in Tacloban City.
The provnce of Leyte is located in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines. Tacloban City is its capital where the seat of the provincial government is situated. Leyte province is bounded by the provinces of Samar to the North and Southern Leyte to its south. To its left lie Camotes islands and the province of Cebu. Leyte overlooks Leyte Gulf and the Pacific Ocean to its right.

The languages primarily spoken in Leyte are Waray-Waray and Bisaya. The province has two primary cities, Tacloban and Ormoc City, their businesses generate a big boost to Leyte's economy. As of late, the province has been seeing a steady influx of economic earnings due to increasing investments provided by outside investors. Establishments like hotels, malls, and business offices have been put in all parts of the province, particularly in Tacloban City.

Leyte province is home also to the Pintados, Kasadyaan, and Buyogan Festivals which are widely known and visited by sightseers in and around the country. Picturesque island destinations abound also in and around the province. Higatangan Island in Biliran, and Cuatros Islas in Southern are just some of them. Excellent diving sites can also be found in Pintuyan, San Francisco and Pintuyan in Southern Leyte.
