Higatangan Island is famous for its white, powdery sand bar which extends about 200 meters to the pristine sea of the island. The waters itself surrounding the Philippine travel destination island are strewn with beautiful corals of different sizes and shapes that make Higatangan Island a more picturesque tourist spot.
The white-sand beaches around the island are speckled with exotic shells and different rock formations masterpieces crafted by nature's own hands.
The island has a tinge of history attached to it. It was once a refuge of Ferdinand Marcos while he was sought by the Japanese during World War II - Marcos went on to become one of the Presidents of the Philippines. Marcos Hill, the highest point in Higatangan Island at 46 meters, is named after him.
