Filipino Food Recipe - Cola Chicken

Cola Chicken Ingredients
Corn oil or soya oil
3 tablespoons toasted garlic
2 tablespoons julienned ginger
1 stalk leeks, cut into 1-inch pieces
1/2 kilo chicken, cut into small pieces
a dash of hot sauce
a pinch of five-spice powder
2 tablespoons lemon juice
salt and pepper to taste
1 teaspoon Thai patis
1 tablespoon rice wine
1/2 piece siling labuyo
1 can cola drink
Cooking Instructions for Cola Chicken
In a pan, heat oil and saute garlic until golden brown. Add ginger and leeks and continue sauteing.
Add the chicken, hot sauce, five-spice powder and lemon juice. When the chicken turns brown and the liquid is reduced, add the cola. Let it boil until reduced.
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Cooking Tip: Serves four people. This was inspired by a Bangkok dish that also uses cola. It is sure to be popular, especially among kids, who like chicken with sauce.
